Grade Level Curriculum Nights at WAYE

Curriculum Night is a great opportunity for teachers to share information with parents about the curriculum and specific expectations for each grade level. The school will also be providing information about how the school uses Title 1 Funds. Several local agencies are also partnering with WAYE to provide information for parents about resources that are available in our community. Pizza will be provided. Please come join us for Curriculum Night. 
*September 14th @ 5:30 - 1st Grade and 4th Grade Curriculum Night 
*September 19th @ 5:30 - Kinder, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and 5th Grade Curriculum Night  

Sunrise Race Information

Attention all Wildcats-Please plan to join Mrs. Murray and your friends at the Sunrise Run on Saturday, September 9th at 9:30 am at Catawba Meadows (Greenway) to support our school and the Physical Education program.  If we have 10 or more students register and run we will receive $200 towards PE equipment!!  The cost per student is $7.00 to do the 1 mile fun run and this includes a t-shirt.  The money and registration form need to be turned in to Mrs. Murray by Friday, September 1st.  Also, you need to arrive no later than 9:00 am

Cyber Cats take 1st Runner-Up in Competition!

The WA Young Robotics team place 1st runner-up in the district competition on April 25th.  This team is made up of all 4th graders.  This is the first time anyone on this team has competed in a robotics competition.  The missed winning by 3 tenths of a point.  WAYE to go Cyber Cats.  They will be traveling to Charlotte on Saturday to compete in the Regionals.  Good Luck!

Kindergarten Registration

Please come by the school office to register your kinder student for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. Someone will be available to help you from 7:30am-3:30pm. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate and proof of residency. Feel free to contact the school at 584-0632 if you have any questions. Thank you. Wildcat Wellness Night

We had an awesome turnout at our March Madness Wellness Night.  Great food, great fun and great memories~ especially beating the staff in basketball ;)!  Thanks to all who came out and supported our Wellness Team!

Red for Women Heart Health Awareness Day

The faculty and staff at WA Young wore red on Friday to show their support for women heart health awareness.  For everyone that has made donations for Jump Rope for Heart we would like to thank you.  He have met our original goal of $2500 but Mrs. Murray has upped the ante and wants us to see if we can make it to $3000.  Keep those donations coming in!

Universal Free Breakfast is now available at WA Young Elementary.  We are happy to inform you that WA Young is participating in the Universal Free Breakfast Program.  This program began  on Monday, January 30th and is a pilot program.

Universal breakfast is a program that allows every student in the school to eat breakfast for free!

Your child automatically qualifies and can start receiving a free breakfast at school immediately.

Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year Janet Lawson and Teacher Assistant of the Year Terri Morris.  
The students and staff would also like to wish Mandy Allen good luck on the new adventures in her life.  She will be truly missed by everyone.
