Backpack Parent Night

posted Sep 2, 2016, 8:33 AM by WA Young Elementary School   [ updated Sep 2, 2016, 8:33 AM ]

You are invited to an exciting and beneficial program at WA Young Elementary on Monday, September 19th from 5:00-6:00pm in the library. This hour will be packed full of presenters from community agencies that want to help you and your family!

Ask yourself these questions:  “Does it seem you’re living pay check to pay check? Does the food in your house disappear before the next grocery trip? Does your check never seem to cover all the bills?”  If you answered yes and could use some assistance, you will want to attend this event.

Representatives from Social Services (Food Stamps and Medicaid), Burke United Christian Ministries, I, Amber Lackey, will be here to give you “straight to the point” information about how we can help you.  There will be short budgeting lesson that you will not want to miss.

Registration forms for the weekly food bags (that are sent home with the child) will be available at this meeting and not sent home with students via the planner. I encourage anyone interested in our food backpack program to attend this meeting. You must call to reserve your spot or return the form if you plan to attend this event. This form will be sent home with your child. There are only 30 slots available.  Participants will also receive a FREE bag of nonperishable food items at the end of the meeting.  Childcare is available. Please call me, 828-584-0632, if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks, Amber Lackey, School Counselor
